It’s important to understand that everything that comes in contact with your body affects your health and skin condition.You can start with buying products that contain only natural ingredients and minimal chemicals. Be conscious of what you put on your skin – if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, it’s probably not something you want to use. Apart from buying more natural products, there are plenty of natural skin care solutions you can try at home. Most of the ingredients you will already have on hand.
Moisturize with olive oil: this healthy fat is good for you, and is great for your skin. You can also use it to soothe sunburned skin.Rub your skin with baking soda once a week while in the shower, for a smooth, silky feeling. You can also do this on your face to remove blackheads.
Deodorize with vinegar : It can work wonders for smelly feet and armpits. Mix equal parts water and vinegar, use in place of deodorant: it will keep the unpleasant sweat smell away, without any irritation. As for your feet, if you suffer with athlete’s foot, a weak of vinegar foot bath will help a lot, sometimes completely getting rid of your condition.
Egg Yolk Face Mask : Egg yolk mixed with honey is one of a really great face mask. Apply on your skin, leave it on for 20 minutes, and rinse it off. Suitable for sensitive skin. Honey gives a tingling/ticklish kind of sensation, so if your skin is sensitive to that, use the egg yolk alone.
Another use of egg yolk: people with eczema, use it instead of soap. It doesn’t smell great, but it will heal your damaged skin.
Avocados are a great treatment for dry skin: mash it, smooth it onto your face, and rinse off after 20 minutes.
For sunburn relief peel: grate and squeeze the juice from a cucumber. Mix it with ½ tsp each of rosewater and glycerin. Apply this to affected areas.
Get rid of dark circles. Soak cotton wool pads in chilled mixture of cucumber and potato juice. Place on your eyelids for 15 to 20 minutes and gently wash off.
Honey Yogurt Face Mask : Make a face mask by mixing rolled oats with honey, yogurt and ground almonds. Apply this mask to your face, let it dry and wash with lukewarm water. Fresh tomatoes are great really ingredient for the oily areas of your face. Rinse thoroughly immediately after using the tomato juice.
Chocolate Mask : Try a smoothing chocolate mask if you have normal to dry skin. Combine 1/3 cup cocoa, 3 tsp of heavy cream, 1/3 cup ripe papaya, ¼ cup honey and 3 tsp of oatmeal powder. Blend together well and smooth all over your face. leave it on your face for 10 minutes, wash your face with warm water.
Lemon Face Mask : If you have oily skin, try a mixture of grapes (softening), lemon (cleansing) and egg white (tightening). Allow to sit for 20 minutes then rinse well with warm water.
Lemon is a great skin toner and refresher. Rub a wedge of cut lemon all over your face. Leave for around 20 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.
Homemade Moisturizer : For dry skin, mix honey, lemon and coconut oil for a great homemade moisturizer. Apply the mixture for 10 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Massage your body with a mixture of coconut oil and some of your favorite essential oils like lavender, lemongrass, geranium or rosemary. Your skin will smell divine and be silky and supple.
Soothing Body Pack : Mix half cup honey to your bath water for soft, smooth and supple skin. For a soothing body pack, blend up a paste of ground almonds and mint leaves. Mix with warm water and then apply all over your body. Leave until it dries then rinse off with warm water.
Soak up oil from your skin by dabbing buttermilk onto affected areas. Leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing. It won’t dry out the skin. Make blemishes fade by applying carrot juice daily.
For dark underarms and dark neck – mix lemon juice with cucumber juice and a pinch of turmeric apply regularly. Leave this on for 20 minutes.
To reduce pimples, mix crushed mint leaves and oats together. Apply 20 minutes and wash off with warm water.
To reduce hair on your face – apply a sticky paste of egg white blended with sugar and corn flour. When it dries, gently peel it off. Repeat this three to four times a week. Control oily shine by rubbing thin apple slices onto oily skin.
